Audience Feedback

I asked 3 A2 Media Studies students to watch my music video and then give me some feedback on what they thought the strengths and weaknesses of my video were.

The Audience Feedback has been helpful as I have been able to identify the strengths and weaknesses of my music video. I am glad that each student has roughly been able to identify what the intended target audience is for the text. As the age range is very specific I was not expecting any of them to identify the target audience exactly so I am happy that they all said teenage and upwards. One of the students also mentioned that they really liked that I had used so many locations in the music video because it made the text interesting to watch. This was encouraging as the professional feedback I was given said that I had used too many locations and that it looked a bit jumbled. This has made me think that it is down to personal opinion. As the audience feedback I was given was from someone within the target audience of this text I am happy that they liked the amount of locations I used as this is more likely to be what the rest of the target audience will think.

Changes I have made because of Professional Feedback

The original inside left cover that I created was a plain image of some balloons. The professional feedback that I was given suggested that I write some sort of Thank You message at the top to fill up the gap that shows the sky. Now I have done this I think it looks very effective, and the digipak looks very good as a whole.

Professional Audience Feedback

Once I had completed my music video and my two ancillary tasks, a professional named Becca came into our media lesson and watched our video and looked at our album digipak and magazine advert. She gave me some feedback on my video of what she thought the strengths were and what she thought I could improve on. I wrote down what Becca said on these two sheets.

I have learnt a lot from this professional audience feedback. I am very happy with the feedback Becca gave me but I do disagree with some of the improvements she thought I should make. She mentioned that although she liked the idea of the footage in black and white, she did not think the effect worked when new technologies like the phone were featured. I disagree with this and think she may have misunderstood the point of the black and white footage. It is supposed to represent a past relationship that ended recently not a past relationship that ended 50 years ago. This is why I think the footage of the phone in black and white does work because the memory is of a recent time. Other than that I agree with everything Becca said, if I had more time I would have thought more about the lighting I had used on the indoor shots. I am also very happy that she liked the hand held camera style of shots when presenting the memory as I did this to ensure the audience could tell a complete difference between the present and the past.
